TAITO TRADING COMPANY was established in
Minato-ku, Tokyo.
Sold imported sundry goods and was the first firm in Japan to distill and market vodka.
Started manufacturing and selling small vending machines (peanut vendors).

Developed the first jukebox produced entirely in Japan.
Started the sales and leasing of amusement equipment.
1962
Became the exclusive sales agent in Japan for jukeboxes produced by U.S.-based Seeburg.
1963
Established subsidiary PACIFIC MANUFACTURING CO., LTD. with the aim of planning, developing and producing our own products.
1970
Was given a commendation by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry as a corporation contributing to exporting.
1971
Purchased the Japan Vending Machine Ltd. with the aim of bolstering amusement facilities operations.
1972
Changed corporate name to TAITO CORPORATION.
1973
Completed construction of the new headquarters building at Hirakawa-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
Released Japan's first professional TV game "Elepong".
1978
Released the enormously popular "Space Invaders" game.
1979
Began building company offices in major cities throughout Japan in order to bolster our network of sales bases.
Established the Ebina Plant in Ebina City (Kanagawa Prefecture) as a main production base, shifted the Tunashima Plant functions to this new plant.
1985
Began handling coin-op audiovisual equipment (professional video karaoke machines).
1986
Became a member of the Kyocera Group after Kyocera took a stake in the company.
Merged the two subsidiaries, PACIFIC MANUFACTURING CO., LTD. and Japan Vending Machine Ltd.
1988
Conducted a CI to mark 35th anniversary.
1992
Began manufacturing and selling the X2000 coin-op karaoke system using ISDN communication lines.
1993
Listed shares on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
1995
Began manufacturing and selling the X-55 home-use online karaoke system.
1996
Established the subsidiary BEIJING TAIXIN CULTURAL AMUSEMENT CO., LTD. to promote amusement facilities operations and game equipment sales in Beijing.
1997
Released the "Densha de GO!" train driving simulation game, which became a huge hit at home and in the arcades.
1999
Became the first producer of arcade amusement equipment to be awarded the ISO9001 International Quality Certification.
Ebina Development Center was awarded the ISO14001 International Environmental Management Systems Certification.
2000
Merged with the Kyocera Multimedia Corporation in order to bolster our network services.
Launched mobile phone contents business.
2002
Nine offices and all directly managed game facilities nationwide were awarded the ISO14001 international certification for their environment management systems.
2003
Shares promoted to the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
2004
Established the subsidiary TAITO KOREA CORPORATION to promote the management of amusement facilities in Seoul, Korea.
2005
Square Enix purchased a stake in TAITO, making the company a member of the Square Enix group.
2006
TAITO became a wholly-owned subsidiary of SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD. and its shares were delisted from the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Transferred commercial karaoke machine business to Xing Inc.
Along with Faith Inc., established the joint venture Brave to serve as a music download service.
2007
TAITO headquarters relocated from Hirakawa-cho, Chiyoda-ku to Yoyogi, Shibuya-ku.
2008
Wide variety of "SPACE INVADERS" 30th Anniversary content unveiled.
2012
TAITO headquarters relocated from Yoyogi, Shibuya-ku to Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku.
2020
Invested in NTTe-Sports, engaged in the business of e-sports in the NTT Group.
2020
Opened TAITO STATION Fuchu Kururu. Became a hot topic as one of the world’s largest-class crane game specialty stores.
2022
Participated in a professional music game league as the owner of the professional team "TAITO STATION Tradz".
